The Boudoir Forum

IT’S HERE!!!! Jen and I could not be happy about this forum and the fact that we have it up, running AND people participating. The idea for this forum came almost 2 years ago when we were on a trip. I believe it was in Mexico but it could have been the Bahamas…or Miami…or NYC;)Either way one of those trips brought this idea to life and here we are. It was a huge task to take on and we wanted to make sure we did it right. This is and always will be a work in progress but we’re excited for the things already happening on there.

If you are just starting out in boudoir or a seasoned pro, we’d love to have you. Click on the image below to go to the registration page!
We look forward to having you.

Vegas Recap with some love from our attendees!

The “You Are Beautiful” Boudoir Workshop by Leah and Jen was the highlight and cherry on top of my first 2011 WPPI Conference.  I extended my trip last minute so that I can attend the workshop and I was so glad I did!  Leah and Jen were both very open to sharing the tips and secrets to their successful boudoir photography businesses.  They left no questions unanswered during the Q&A portion of the workshop.  Topics included their workflow processes, post processing/designing, marketing strategies, preferred vendors, product offerings, pricing structures and even posing styles, etc.  They were all very useful information that I needed to know to branch out my business into boudoir photography.  Plus, these two ladies are personable and super fun and they work well together to deliver a very valuable workshop for those who are interested in boudoir photography.  I would totally recommend these two!!

I so enjoyed taking Jen and Leah’s boudoir workshop last year…it was definitely the best part of WPPI for me! I learned so much about boudoir, from how to photograph it, to how to sell it. Jen and Leah are industry pros, but are still incredibly approachable and kind. You will be so glad you went!!

Boudoir Buzz: Shooting for anonymity

It’s happened to all of us, the amazing session where you finish and you feel like you just hit the jackpot. You cull the images immediately, drooling over everyone that you want to blog. Then the truth comes. The client wants nothing shown with their face. Sigh.

Don’t let it trip you up though. When shooting make sure you’re not only turning over a great gallery full of facial expressions, you’re also getting tons of anonymous shots: for you. Anonymous shots can be just as sexy, if not more, than something with her face showing. It’s adds a bit of mystery to the image and that’s something that fits so well with boudoir.

With each outfit I go over mentally all the detail shots I can achieve all while keeping her identity a secret. Back of corset, thigh high clasps, her taking her thigh highs off, a chest shot with her back arched, lace details, are all things running through my mind.

So next time you have a client who wants to remain anonymous remember to take time with each outfit to capture images that you can share!
